Jaybird X2 and the Jaybird Freedom headphones are the premium sports Bluetooth headphones that offer you some great comfort along with an excellent sound quality for your workout sessions. If you are wondering how the features of the headphones compare against each other then this post is a must-read for you.
Both the headphones have their own advantages and disadvantages, so it is really important that you consider your needs and make sure that the headphones you opt for are good enough for your gym workout sessions and have every feature that you might possibly need.
Design and Build Quality
The design of the Jaybird X2 headphones is sleek and smart with relatively larger earbuds and fin tips in comparison to the Jaybird Freedom headphones.
It clearly seems like there is more effort on the design of the Jaybird X2 Bluetooth headphones as the matte black finish gives it a really nice premium feel.
The Jaybird Freedom, on the other hand, has a subtle design and even though these headphones look good, if you had to choose one among the Freedom and Jaybird X2 in terms of design and build quality, then I would definitely consider Jaybird X2 headphones.
The build quality felt a bit more sturdy on the X2 which is definitely another feature win for these Bluetooth headphones.
The sound quality on the Jaybird X2 is wonderful and these headphones are known for their amazing sound quality. Jaybird has done a pretty good job when it comes to the sound quality of both the Bluetooth headphones.
The Jaybird X2 headphones are amazing and the only major difference between them and the Freedom headphones is the MySound app which lets you further tune your music. This app is present in the newer version which is the Jaybird X3 but the Jaybird X2 is devoid of any such apps.
The Jaybird Freedom has a small inline remote which might feel a bit difficult to use for someone with larger hands in comparison to the Jaybird X2, this may not be a deal breaker but still, it is something you should know.
The connectivity on both the headphones is pretty good and I liked the Freedom a bit more in this case in comparison to the X2, however, the X3 headphones are way better than both of them in terms of connectivity.
Bottomline, you can easily take up calls on both of these headphones without any network issue.
Both the headphones have a huge range of different ear tips sizes and you can choose which combination fits you teh best. Both of them have the foam ar tip which gives an excellent noise cancellation as they expand inside your ear to fit properly, avoiding any sound leakage.
The Freedom headphones have smaller earbuds in comparison to the Jaybird Freedom X2, so if you someone like me with small ears then you might actually like the Freedom more than the X2.
However, most of the people would not see much of a difference, but when it comes to comfort for me, the Freedom headphones does it right. If you have an average size ear then you might prefer the X2 headphones.
It really depends on the person and the opinion, in this case, might differ from person to person. I personally liked the Freedom headphones but if you want relatively larger earbuds then you should definitely go for the X2.
Jaybird headphones are known for being really durable and can last you for 2 years and even more. The headphones are waterproof although they are not meant for swimming, they can survive if you drop them in water and are sweatproof as well.
Any intense workout and these headphones are going to stay on your side and help you push your limits. The headphones can survive literally anything and hence when it comes to durability you can actually say that both the headphones are equally good.
The headphones do come with a box in which you can store them in order to make sure that you keep them safe and not get the wires all tangled when not in use. I have personally lost a lot of headphones because of the wires getting loose due to tossing them in my gym bag without storing them in the dust bag first.
The Jaybird X2 and the Jaybird X3 both have 8 hours of playback time and a quick charge of 10 minutes can give you another hour of playback. The Jaybird X3 could have been better than its predecessor but with all the other features and update, this one seems like a minor change that they probably missed.
The 8-hour battery life is pretty much above average battery life as most of the sports Bluetooth headphones come with 6 hours of battery life.
The Freedom F5 has a 4-hour battery life and the battery pack will give you an additional 4 hours of battery life which gives you a total of 8 hours of battery life.
The battery pack is pretty light in weight and it would not bother you much during your workout session. However, if you are a little skeptical about the using a battery pack with your Bluetooth headphones then the Jaybird X2 might be your choice among the two.
Let’s sum up all the different features and see which sports headphones is actually worth it and which one should be given a miss. The Jaybird X2 has a better design, good sound quality and it is durable along with an amazing battery life. Considering the price point as well, with some discounts on Amazon, we have to say that the Jaybird Freedom seems like a better option.
You can go for the Freedom only if you do not have any problems with the Battery pack used in order to extend the battery life. But if you are really repulsed by the battery pack feature in Freedom headphones, then you should take a look at the Jaybird X2.
