Skullcandy XTfree Wireless Headphones Review is going to be the features of this wireless headphone and if it is fit to be a sports Bluetooth headphone or not. WIthout any further ado, let’s get started with the detailed review-
Design and Build Quality
The design of these headphones are pretty cool, they look amazing and the color combination of the earbuds and the fin tips give the headphones a really funky look. The headphones are made up of a plastic material although it isn’t cheap quality plastic hence giving the headphones an overall great look.
The headphones have a very comfortable ear tip which helps them fit in your ears comfortably and the headphones have a pretty good design which makes them fit perfectly on any ear. The earbuds might be a little heavier in comparison to the earbuds on other sports headphones so if that is a deal breaker then you might want to consider another sports Bluetooth headphones.
Sound Quality
The headphones have a pretty average sound quality. The sound is crisp and clear but not something I would recommend to an audiophile. It is more like average sound quality headphones and something that you would just use in the gym.
The headphones come with an inline mic and the never-ending instructions for the mic is given in detail in the manual. It is pretty easy to use the inline mic and the buttons are quite mushy and easy to operate. The network range of these headphones is sad and it is barely enough to leave your phone in your gym bag and go away to do your workout session.
The only problem with these headphones might be a bad range and that could create problems if you are going to leave your phone far away. It would be just moving from one room to another might cause some network problems so you really need to look into this aspect before making your buying decision.
Comfort
The comfort level on these headphones are pretty good and the ear tips are quite soft and comfortable to wear. The headphones stay put even during extensive exercises, however, the earbuds are slightly heavier than the earbuds you usually find in sports Bluetooth headphones and it could create a few issues after training for a while with them.
The heavier earbuds might cause some pain, although it really depends on how heavy you find the earbud on your ear. The fin tips do not come in different sizes and it is just the earbuds that come in different sizes. The fin tips are made up of soft and comfortable material so it should fit everyone easily.
However, if you are someone who is very particular about getting the perfect earbud and fin tip combination then you might want to consider other sports headphones because there are many that give you the liberty to have the perfect earbud and fin tip combination in order to have the best fit.
Durability
The headphones are sweat resistant which means that if you are going to have a really sweaty session then you can expect that there would be no damage to your headphones caused. However, these are not water resistant which means you cannot go swimming with these headphones inside water.
Neither can you drop these headphones in water and expect them to last really long. These headphones can easily last for around 6 months to a year and if taken care properly these headphones can last even longer.
Battery Life
The battery life on these headphones can last for about 6 hours which is pretty mediocre and usually, you could find headphones at a lower price point that offer a battery life for around 8 hours. Charging for 5 minutes can give you an hour worth of playback.
The entire battery can get charges in around 25 minutes which is pretty less and it is easy to charge it with the micro USB cable that comes in the box. The headphones also come with a small box where you can store these headphones.
Conclusion
These Skullcandy headphones do have all the basic features but it would be better if the company enhanced the features since you get more for the same price point with other Bluetooth headphones. The network range of these headphones suck big time and it is ideal if you look into other sports Bluetooth headphones option that we have out there.
The JLAB Audio Epic 2 is a much better headphone as it comes with a 12-hour battery life and a lot more better features than these headphones. Do let us know what were your experiences if you have used this headphone before!
