SOL REPUBLIC Amps Air Review

April 6, 2018 by admin

SOL Republic Amps is another TRULY WIRELESS headphone that is completely cord-free like the Jaybird RUN, Jabra Elite Sport, and Bose Soundsport Free headphones.

The SOL headphones have been known for their pretty amazing comfort and sound quality, however, are these new Amp Air earbuds worth the money? Or are they just another desperate try to bring out affordable truly wireless earbuds and fail to deliver?

Read on the review as we discuss each and every feature on these headphones.

Design and Build Quality

The design and Build Quality of the SOL REPUBLIC Amp Air earbuds is real classy and sleek. Everything from the build material to the material of the charging case, the headphones have a really nice premium touch to it and they look like $250 headphones.

The sides of the earbuds have a really nice design for grip and the SOL logo gives a metallic touch to the entire earbuds. Having an amazing build quality and design these headphones have done really well for their price range and getting something as good looking as these in the $100 club is amazing.

The overall design and Build Quality of the headphones are impressive and if you are looking for something that would look and feel great then these earbuds from SOL are perfect.

Sound Quality

Here is where most of the problems began, while the sound quality was pretty okayish, it was nothing great. When the connectivity was working okay, the songs sounded pretty amazing which included clear highs and lows.

The sound is not heavy on the bass and if you are looking for something on those lines then the Bose Soundsport FREE is the way to go.

The sound quality is pretty mediocre and the connectivity sucks. The connectivity doesn’t last more than 2 feet which is annoying.

The earbuds definitely could have been better considering that they are competing with cord-free earbuds from the best companies like Bose, Jaybird, and Sony. Overall, the sound quality was mediocre and the connectivity was below average which leaves us with a pretty disappointing score in the sound quality section.

Comfort

The earbuds were pretty comfortable especially once I found the perfect ear tip combination. You can pretty much use it for any workout session, however, they did feel a bit flimsy especially when I went upside down in one of the yoga poses.

Yes, I do wear my headphones while doing yoga and these earbuds may not be ideal when it comes to using them for an extensive workout session. Lifting weights and other simpler cardio exercises might work just fine but these might fall off if you are doing a challenging exercise.

Overall, the headphones do not stay in your ears while exercising and if you just plan on listening to music then these might work out for you but otherwise, you might have to go easy on these earbuds while exercising.

Durability

The headphones are pretty durable and they are going to last you for quite some time. The headphones can handle splashes of water and I personally did not try immersing in water, so I cannot be sure about that but it can definitely handle rain and sweat.

The headphones come with a real classy charging case, you so you safely store them inside the case without worrying about losing any one of the earbuds. The earbuds are having the best charging case, where you can charge the earbuds but at the same time charge your phone with them.

The earbuds are durable and can last you pretty long enough, so if you are wondering about their longevity then you should know that you are investing in the right earbuds.

Battery Life

The battery life of the earbuds is around 3 hours and you can get it charged 15 times more with the charging case. Yes, this is the best feature on the SOL Amps Air and that is the charging case that comes with such a long battery life.

This type of battery life is rare when it comes to cord-free headphones. The charging case is the best that you can find on any wireless headphones and we are in love with them. These headphones have an important feature sorted out and that is battery life.

You can travel with the headphones anywhere as long as you have the charging case. Although the battery life capacity of the earbuds could be improved as even though they claim it to be 3 hours, in reality, you get only 2 hours and 30 minutes of playback which is not that great.

However, considering the additional battery life in the charging case, you can say that the manufacturers have done a pretty decent job of covering up the shitty battery life.

Conclusion

The SOL Amp earbuds are sleek, classy and have an excellent built quality. The headphones only have connectivity issue and the rest of the features are pretty manageable. If you just want to listen to some music by keeping the phone or connected device close to you then you can go for these headphones.

They have a good battery life on their charging case and you can even use the charging case to charge your phone along with the earbuds. The earbuds have its own pros and cons and I had to choose then I would have preferred the JLA Audio Epic true earbuds that come in the same price range and are slightly better than these.
